What is a CUDIMM, and do I need a special motherboard?
A CUDIMM (clocked UDIMM) adds an on-module clock driver (CKD) to reach very high speeds. To run at the rated DDR5-8400 you need a CUDIMM-capable platform, typicallyIntel Core Ultra Series 2 on Z890. On boards without CUDIMM support it works in bypass mode as a normal UDIMM at a lower speed.
Does it work onAMD as well as Intel?
It carries both Intel XMP andAMD EXPO profiles. However, CUDIMM 8400 support is currently anIntel Core Ultra Series 2 feature; onAMD or non-CUDIMM boards it runs in UDIMM bypass mode at reduced speed. Check your board’s support and QVL.
Will it run at 8400 MT/s automatically?
On a CUDIMM-capable board, enable the XMP or EXPO profile in the BIOS to apply the rated 8400 MT/s CL40 settings. Without a profile enabled it defaults to a slower JEDEC speed.
Is this ECC or registered memory?
No. It is a non-ECC clocked UDIMM (CUDIMM) for consumer desktop platforms, not server registered (RDIMM) or ECC memory.
